..what evil LURKS.....

My conception of the consummate "lurker".

Despite this being the traditional time for “Love our Lurkers”, I can’t offer any love here. If you are a lurker, you are of course welcome to visit as this is an open, public, though adult (hence age-restricted) forum. But unlike the current trends in schools, I don’t think it’s appropriate to hand out trophies to anyone just for showing up. In fact I think I'd rather send these silent slackers off to the  cyber-"Principal's Office".

And it's only appropriate that the Principal be Masterson during his"creepy period".

Instead, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who not only visit but PARTICIPATE….even infrequently.  Knowing you are out there and that I can post something and assume a regular or even periodic response from you, means a lot to me and often recharges my batteries. And in that spirit, this year I am adding a new tradition to "Love Our Lurkers" Day at "Collected Submissions": the bestowing of the "Wooden Spoon Award"!

The coveted "Wooden Spoon"......(coveted by some more than others and for different reasons depending on which end of the spoon you prefer to be on.)

So THANKS to this year's recipients of the DD-bloggers' "Wooden Spoon Award" for participation! Dan, Merry, Tomy, Downunder Don, QBuzz, sissysnow, Fondles, Glenmore, Crimson Kid, John G., Joe, archedone, Lurker48, JayJay, Jhakov, Jack, Doug, Mr. Bill, Hermione, Lea, Loki, Nickki, and of course my Monster, Ana (whose "Wooden Spoon" also comes with a blank discipline slip! LOL)! Apologies to anyone I left out.

Would YOU like to be publicly thanked next year with a "Wooden Spoon Award"? Easy. Post something. At Collected Submissions, we accept lurkers, but we LOVE our participants!

  1. Hooray. I got an award. This is SO exciting. I would like to first of all thank Aunt Kay for all her diligence in shining me up into the person I am. I want to thank my parents for conceiving me. I want to thank every woman who over they years has graced me with disciplinary attention; them memories you left last a lifetime, even if the marks only made it a couple of weeks.
Thanks to other Bloggers - you know who you are, for keeping it interesting. My appreciation goes to the inventors of the Internet and the earlier inventors of written language.

And finally, but not least, to KD for bestowing this incredible honor on me. Thank you one and all.

  2. Thank you for the mention. But I don't think I'll tell Robyn about it she just might want to get her wooden spoon out and use it on me. But then is that really a bad idea?
You are going to spank me with the wooden spoon? yes dear what position can I present myself in?

    2. So would non-participation, it seems - a long way in a welcomed direction. I say this with a recently well spanked bottom from my wife. So delicious! Thanks for the mention, KD, but being spanked is so much better! Doug

  7. I'm honoured. And I wish I could stop in more regularly to read and participate, but things around these parts have been rather crazy and i've found myself with very little time to do anything else besides drag my butt to work and back and deal with all the family stuff that's going on. There has been more in the week that just passed, but even *I* am tired of reading about it on my own blog.

I'll definitely try and keep up - hopefully i'll still be around for next year's award! *Happy LOL Day!*

    1. Hey, it's OK. Do what you need to. I'm sure you'll be more active when things calm down for you. Family stuff can take a toll on you. I have been there, and still stuff pops up that can make one crazy.

  9. Hello sir. Since you are 'not a friend' of your POTUS, I have thought about a nicname. But his name is so much better: every letter is his name stands for his policy: The Rich Under My Protection.

    Kind regards,

    Marco (from Lindsay).

    1. Thank you kindly. You can use it whenever you need, sir. Hope the US votes better next time, but I think 'the nutcases' will win again. Midterms didn't show much of a change. Sad.

  12. Wow, the "Wooden Spoon Award" for participation, even though mine is somewhat inconsistent, due to family issues on occasion, that's terrific.

I recently bought a brand-spanking-new wooden spoon, perhaps I can get my darling wife to 'christen' it, right where it'll leave a lasting impression on me, based on my receiving this award. It's worth a try, at least.

I've always been a bit uncertain about the "Love Our Lurkers" day being celebrated on internet sites and blogs aimed at reader participation, I'm supposing that the "love" is supposed to encourage lurkers to stop merely lurking and actively participate.

However, I do agree that participants should be celebrated over lurkers in order to encourage more interaction, that strikes me as rather obvious... --C.K.
