RULES FOR POSTING COMMENTS: This blog is meant to be interactive. Please utilize the comment feature to respond to posts that prompt a reaction. You do not have to agree with me to post, but I do ask that your comment pertain to the post itself. I also ask that "anonymous" guests attach some sort of name to their comments so readers can tell everyone apart. (If you cannot follow these simple rules, your post may be DELETED or at the very least mocked for the entertainment of those who can respect my guidelines.)

Going Private

In a short while "Collected Submissions" is going to be a limited access blog. I am going to keep it public for a bit so that my regular readers can ask any questions regarding this new status.

If you are a regular reader/participant with a Blogger account, there is not much you need to do. You will have to log on initially I believe but I have never encountered any extra steps in going onto the private blogs of others.

Important points:
1: If you do not have a Blogger profile and log on as "anonymous" I don't think you will be able to be given access. I am sorry if this affects anyone. (I know it will affect my dear Ana, but I've already broken the news to her.)

2: I am permitted up to 100 'private guests'......WAY more than I'll need. So odds are if you are on my reader list and have participated even moderately, you will very likely be given access. Whether you choose to act on that is totally up to you. Membership will not be determined by whether you've always agreed with me. That's not my style. However, guests who have consistently flouted the rules may find themselves blocked.

3: If there is a problem, I am an active participant on several other blogs you may also be a part of. All you have to do to contact me is click my avatar and use the contact feature provided. Once contacted I will make sure any 'regular' with an issue is taken care of.

4: It is probably a good idea to save "Collected Submissions" in your favorites, or somewhere. I understand that it may not be easy to get to the blog without a ready avenue.

5: This is not a bad thing. I am hopeful that private access may encourage even more dialog, and I myself may restore some images I have removed since the core group of participants are also trusted by me. I may even feel a bit more emboldened to share even more if this works out.

6: If you have any questions NOW is the time to ask. Once I reset the access, if you are not a Blogger account person who has been given access by me, it may be difficult to resolve anything.

7: If you are someone I "know" from another blog, but haven't participated here but would want to be a part of the new blog, post something soon so you are in the reader base. If I DON'T  know you already, access will probably not be granted. (You had 4 years, and plenty of warning.)

Over the 4 years here I think a lot of great friendships and associations have been made. Hopefully the decision to go private will not affect any of that.

To old friendships and new beginnings!

    1. I'm not sure how to respond to this. First I could just delete it for violating at least one of the only two rules for commenting, or I could just let this stand as an example of why going private is so appealing. I like to make fun of certain comments but hesitate to make fun of grammatical issues since I live in a household of ESL people and understand that English is difficult for some readers. But I have to say while I can speculate as to what you mean, with your current wording, I definitely don't know for sure. Try again ....with a name this time....if you want.

    1. That, my dearest dear, is a 'given'. You are definitely "on the list" even without asking.

Do you remember Jackass July from last year?

    2. Well, after a certain "let everybody see" period, following the Jackass dares, I began to remove certain images and the videos because, as open as I am, I just felt certain ones which contained my face could potentially be misused by unscrupulous people.

With the forum going private, I will probably re-post those images. (There was at least one from your dare that was deleted that I would be happy to replace.)

    1. Thanks for the comment, justaguy. I will tell you what. I am not going to go private until August 1st. That will give my regulars ample time to see what is going to happen......but it will also give you time to participate with the posts that go up between now and then.

I have always stated that this is not really a 'free blog' even though there is no monetary charge to visit. But this is, and has always been intended to be, a blog of intelligent interaction. Only those who have participated will be given access to visit after 8/1/19.

However, I am taking you at your word that you are new and not a long time 'lurker'. So, "welcome!" Take a look around and feel free to scroll back. A lot of ground of various terrains have been covered in our four years here.

  4. Hi KD,

I certainly want to continue to read your fascinating blog. I'm sorry that circumstances have occurred to make you feel the need to go private, but I respect your decision. I also hope this leads to more active participation from your readers--including myself--and more stories from you.

    Hugs,
    Hermione

    1. You will certainly be among those allowed in. I hope it leads to good things too, but if not, it could just be an interim step to shutting down or just making the blog into a somewhat personal journal.

  5. Hoping I make the list KD. I've only ever been kicked out of one blog (quite unfairly I might add) and it wasn't yours.I should be able to comply with all your rules

    1. You are also certainly on the list. You comment rather frequently. The only rules are (and have always been): comments need to be pertinent to the topic and contain some sort of name. However the second one will now be moot since anonymous accounts are not an option with Blogger for private accounts.

  6. Here's hoping it works out for you KD. I will continue to comment as much as possible although we disagree on some issues I always find your views interesting.

    1. Thanks, Joe. You are definitely on my list even though, as you said, we don't always agree. I'm not one to seek clones as friends or people to converse with. What is the point of that? ;-)

  7. Shilo did that with nearly all his blogs.

  8. Can I get on the list too? I think I have never commented here though.

    1. Well I kind of know you from Dan’s blog so it’s a good possibility. Feel free to comment here until 8/1 in the meantime.

  9. Suggestion - Maybe you can open a separate blog to display the fabulous miniature stuff you do.

I'm talking about the suitable-for-vanilla-world stuff. I'm crazy about it.

    1. Actually that stuff shows up on my son’s instagram. But fear not. You will be able to see new stuff since you are definitely going to have access.
