Valentine's Day tomorrow

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day but Rosa and I have agreed beforehand to postpone OUR Valentine's Day until next week so we can go out without crowds and jacked-up pricing. It has also been very gloomy here in NJ with drizzly rain going on for days with just brief breaks in-between. So I'm trying to rally some spirit in the face of it all. In the meantime, since I've practically exhausted the Valentine imagery out there over the past years, today I'm going for humor.

Here are a few images that made me snicker:

Given my own interests, this one was very clever.

Sometimes nothing can fix a no-win situation.

Seems like Cupid fucks up a lot!

And it seems the kid is simply not the innocent cherub he seems to be.

No wonder he frequently ends up spanked......and not only by his Mom, Venus.

  1. That was a refreshing interlude.

Shilo and myself had a very similar discussion last week. It's just a day, so we will celebrate it during the day during the week next week.

  2. Good one KD especially I tried. We feel the same on Valentine's day, the one holiday I do not buy my wife flowers because of the price gouging and she agrees.

    1. Yes and we have almost completely stopped buying cards for things. ( and Rosa initiated this) She says the price of a card is ridiculous when you think of how one could put that same amount towards something better.

    2. I always used to make my own cards and homemade Valentine gifts.

    3. Tomy: I used to do this so much with my ex that I find I now have a hard time doing it with Rosa because of the negative association with something that was so heartfelt and intense and ended so badly. I know that it is almost not fair for Rosa, but just thinking about making a card for Rosa triggers very stomach-churning feelings. It's like something that i used to be good at, that would also be appreciated now, is forever tainted and ruined.

  3. Looks like a lot of us are NOT celebrating it on V day itself. We had ours a day early. :) Prices would have been crazy today.

  4. Well, the person who really needs a good, hard bare-assed thrashing from Venus, the Goddess of Love and Cupid's mother, is whoever stole the bow-and-arrow part of that Cupid statue in the gag photo above (image #4).

The mischievous little godling does seemed to get spanked a lot, I've even seen classical artwork of his cherubic nether cheeks being smacked by various mythological females--I especially liked one showing Minerva (Athena) smacking his chubby bare buns with her palm, apparently for knocking over a statue.

I don't spend all that much on Valentine's Day at this point in my marriage, however it is important to my darling wife that she does get some recognition of my love for her. If we go out for dinner, it's usually a day later to avoid overcrowding at the restaurant... --C.K.

    1. CK: If you search back to all the posts from February 1st, 2017 to February 14th, 2017, you'll see a rather complete collection of the images you mentioned regardless of the stated topic. I have also posted others in other years so I really felt the need to do something different this year.

I actually think if the bow was stolen and didn't just fall off with age, the culprit deserves a pat on the back for inventiveness. LOL

  5. Yes, I do recall those images of Cupid being spanked, usually by Venus, I did look back at some of them--it's just a Saint Valentine's Day topic which I never grow tired of fantasizing about.

Concerning the missing statuary bow-and-arrow, I'm rather cynical about much of human nature, hence my primary assumption that it was stolen--although not by the guy posing for that corny photograph.

For all the potential effort and expense of celebrating Valentine's Day, I suppose that people lacking any romantic relationship, assuming that they desire to have one, consider it to be a problem which they wish they had... --C.K.

    1. They are fun......and plentiful....and some even bizarre.

Valentine's Day can be depressing for lonely people. I feel bad for them.
