It's a boy!

It's official. I'm a grandfather for the first time. In a covid-19 world, this will mean handling visitation a bit differently, but I'm not an impatient person. All in good time. For now there will be a video chat tonight and then we will discuss what's allowed, recommended, and still celebratory.

I did get a picture and was surprised at how 'non-newborn' he looks. But then again, my daughter is a very health-oriented person and did everything by the book....as is her nature. And once again, it has paid off.  So, that's it for now.

I'm not sure what my posting schedule will be like this week for more reasons than just this good news, but anything is possible.

  2. Congratulations, I envy you! I have two step-granddaughters, but no 2nd gen descendants of my own.

    1. Thanks, Lurker. Steps are a damned good alternative when the real thing doesn't happen for whatever reason. Just enjoy them as you would your very own.......which I'm sure you probably do.

  3. Congratulations. Have you got an official title yet? Grandad or Grandpa or Grumps or whatever your family tradition is?

    1. Thanks. Actually that whole name-thing HAS been something of a topic lately. There was a nostalgic part of me that was liking "Dziadzu" or "Dziadz" but I'm not so old-school Polish to have that feel quite appropriate, so despite my penchant for quirky twists on things, right now boring old "Grandpa" seems like the front-runner.

Are you allowed to tell us the boy's name...??

    1. Thanks, CK. As for the name being withheld? That's my choice. But I'll probably invent one for him as I usually do with my family and friends.

  5. Congratulations! It's a whole new world, grandparenting that is.
I am sort of a grandparent, my wife had a daughter before we met and gave her up for adoption. They were reunited 5 years ago and she has three children now. Those kids have more grandparents than they can name.
