Bastinado

Bastinado. It sounds like a Mexican bandit whose parents weren't married, but it's really something with much more "kink potential". Technically it's the caning of the soles of the foot, like that infamous scene in "Midnight Express" when Brad Davis took a blanket in a Turkish prison.

Real bastinado is brutal and potentially crippling. Certainly nothing appropriate for consenting adults.

But just like judicial caning in places like Singapore can be scaled down to a very satisfying activity for BDSM folks, so too can "bastinado".

One obvious modification is simply employing stingy flicks instead of those brutal full-force strokes. I've experienced this a few times and if your feet are used to walking in shoes and sneakers, you will be very tender there and your Top won't need to do much to get an "ouch" out of you.

By the look of this bondage I think this guy is in for a rough day.....though I'm sure it won't even be close to the real thing.  (Which is a good thing.)

In addition to a softer stroke, you can also scale down the heavier cane to something lighter.

A much lighter cane.....but she'll feel it nonetheless.

Yet another option is switching out the cane completely for something more pliable yet still capable of inflicting some sting. Leather crops, straps, and short floggers are excellent alternatives.

This GIF shows the reaction to even the lightest of  crop flicks. The fact is: bastinado hurts.

Why "bastinado" today? Well, you can credit Nickki! Yesterday, after my chores were complete, Nickki had me bend over clothed but barefoot.....soles up. She then told me that she had a strong negative reaction to my "foot-fisting" shots and just wanted some payback. She wasn't angry but wanted to experiment. At first she tried her spoon but it was too wide and hit my heel bone. I asked her to switch to something leathery since the whole rule of thumb in BDSM of not striking boney areas with solid implements allows pain without injury.

She initially said we could just forget it, and that it was just an impulsive idea. But I certainly didn't want to drench her creativity in a dose of cold water. With a simple unbuckling and unsheathing of my belt, I handed it to her as an alternative. Nickki then delivered just a few token swipes to my soles. They weren't hard but they still stung plenty!  And with that brief "punishment", my mind went to "bastinado".

I fully understand why folks employ restrictive bondage of one type or another with this activity, because the reflexive moving and jerking makes off-target strikes highly likely. So if you try this, seriously consider some immobilization. However, if you like the idea of some foot torture but are skeptical of being struck with even the lightest of implements, you have another option:

  1. the last picture makes me shudder.. no one and I do mean NO ONE touches my feet - but especially my toes.

Once only once did a 'dom' hit my feet with a crop... he had done some bondage on me - predicament bondage - and I was so focused on that - that I didn't notice him picking up the crop and taking aim........ let me just say he's lucky he's still got his balls... (I can be a rather feisty submissive)

  2. I haven't done bastinado for many years and when I did I have to admit I was a real light weight. The arches of my feet used to itch for days afterwards sometimes.

  4. To each their own pain, certainly. Definitely not for me. The one time a play partner struck the bottom of my foot with a cane, I wanted to kick back and send his sinuses through the back of his head.

  7. Have have had my feet struck both unintentionally and intentionally. I walk everywhere socially acceptable in bare feet for 3 out of 4 seasons and I'm here to tell ya that didn't matter. He's also shocked the instep. Not a fan! Lol

As for tickling, I'm the youngest of 5. I trained myself at an early age to not respond. Lol

    1. Injuries and unpleasant experiences often have a lasting effect. I can't do the barefoot thing across the board. Just on cushy places.

  8. ....and in a completely off topic and inappropriate vein; the word, for some reason, reminds me of a scene in a Woody Allen movie where he is acting out as an outraged Latino and calls his friend "Bastardo".

    1. Sorry, I looked this up and still don't get it. But then again, in the 80's I was pretty much just listening to classical.

    1. You did great! I was surprised...and it definitely stung! Experimentation leads to discovery of all kinds.
