As many of may remember, last year Rosa and I invited Ana, Marta, and Nickki to assess my behavior for 2016 and recommend an appropriate punishment. In addition, each was also given the opportunity to recommend a "warning" punishment to kick off 2017. (you can read all about it if you scroll back to several posts in January of 2017.)
Well, a little before the end of this month, I thought about whether the old committee would want to do it again. I didn't want to force a repeat on anyone and so I thought testing the willingness of the folks involved would be the most prudent course. Naturally I asked Ana first. We were coming back from her dorm for the holidays and once I got the question out, Ana took about a second before saying 'yes'. I remember laughing at how her immediate agreement contrasted with my concern that I was possibly being a pest. It gave me the confidence to ask Ana what she thought Marta and Nickki would say, and she replied that a lot had to do with mood.
I was also given an opportunity to talk to Marta privately the very next day when she pulled up behind me as I was taking groceries out of my car. Emboldened by this stroke of timing, I asked her the same question, and she too responded affirmatively just as quickly as Ana had.
I then ended up texting Nickki about some Christmas question that same day and decided to go for my third candidate. She too agreed immediately saying that perhaps this year she might talk about my behavior with Rosa instead of with me like we did last time. I thought that was an interesting approach and told Rosa about the exchange with all three of these ladies. She liked it and understood why I decided to test their willingness prior to discussing it with her.......since she is ALWAYS more than willing to go along with punishment recommendations from trusted sources.
After getting all of my positive responses, I shared their amusing immediacy with Ana who teased me that everyone's eagerness to contribute must be an indication of the nature of my behavior in 2017. I haven't had the chance to follow up with Marta or Nickki yet, but Ana delivered her slip to Rosa and me just prior to the New Year. It was not as bad as last time......but it is still no picnic. (I will share more details in another post.)
So, even without the input from Nickki and Marta, Rosa already has plenty to work with when she's ready! And we should have the additional input soon.
