Caption irony

Readers here and elsewhere know quite well my disdain for most captioned photos and art, but I found an image the other day that was just begging to be captioned.......and I couldn't resist the temptation. The double irony is that the subject of the caption is 'irony' while the mere act of me captioning something is in itself ironic. Nevertheless here it is:

  1. A truer comment was never spoken LOL

    1. That was impressively witty, archedone! Well played, sir.

    1. Perhaps. But definitely a small step in comparison to what I complain about. ;-) You have to admit, I stuck to my own caveats: the image is not of an 'innocent', I'm not implying any stretch for the models, and the intention was humor rather than self-indulgent fantasy. When I start doing any of that, you'll know I've lost it. LOL

    2. Dan, I am soooooo disappointed. AS I was opening comments, I was preparing to say "welcome to the dark side!" only to have my thunder already stolen!

And I too think that as long is image already involves some sort of BDSM activity, then it seems pretty fair game. For example, if the woman is holding a paddle, it is not that much of a stretch to caption it with something involving paddling...

    3. ZM: Unless it's a canoe paddle held by a barely legal at a summer camp and subsequently captioned with something like: "Oh just wait until after my canoe trip, when I use this paddle on YOU, you naughty boy!" >groan< But that's the type of shit I normally see and each time I throw up just a little bit into my own mouth.

Well, I did actually describe a single canoe paddle swat, girl-to-boy, in a serial I wrote, of course it was an homage to a scene from the motion picture "On the Beach," which had the genders reversed so it was man-to-woman.

"What other use for this paddle was I referring to, young man? Have you seen the movie 'On the Beach,' by any chance?" That kind of caption would at least be a touch more subtle, however many people wouldn't get the film reference.

I've seen a spanking-threat caption with a bikini-clad woman standing in shallow water holding a solid-looking paddle obviously designed for some sort of beach game (not a Jokari paddle)--that's a bit of a 'stretch,' however the young lady's dialogue was quite appealing and her expression did strike me as rather strict, so I did find that captioned photograph to be quite spanko-erotic.

I may have it somewhere in my files, if I do come across it I'll send it to you, if you don't mind... --C.K.

Ahhhh, that's a terrific caption--quite witty and it expands upon an already-existing CP-oriented situation, so you didn't have to fabricate one via dialogue.

Of course, given my tendencies I'd prefer that the genders be reversed, however you had to go with what was available... --C.K.
