LOL & the 2021 Spooners

Welcome one and all to "Love Our Lifestyle"-Day! If you are new here, please enjoy a warm welcome, and if you are a long-time lurker........well........we'll get to you later. Please know that if you comment here, you will be honored next year at this time with our recognition for participation award.....The Wooden Spoon (or Spooner). My goal here is, and always has been, participation among thinking practitioners of "Our Lifestyle". Participation means insights, experience, and reactions of agreement OR disagreement. Compliments are nice, and they will get you a 'thank you', but they are not my main focus when it comes to comments.

Read. Think. React. Share. That's what keeps a conversation lively.  If your intent is merely wank-fodder, I'm afraid you'll struggle for material here.

Be warned though, there are plenty of things even a kinky person may not like about "Collected Submissions". For one thing we are not 100% kink. Topics here are varied. Of course kink is a go-to favorite, but it is not the sole subject of this blog. And we explore the whole arena of kink, not just one thing...even things I have no personal desire to do, but just little exposes of what's out there. As such, there might well be things we'll discuss that won't appeal to you.

I also enjoy humor.....but my sense of it may not be the same as yours. AND.....I will tackle both of the 'polite untouchables' of politics and religion. But I don't expect fawning agreement. A lively discussion with someone with a differing opinion is what I am seeking by posting such topics. So, that's what we're about.

Now......onto the awards!

Proof that people LOVE awards!

For those of you who know all about Collected Submissions and participate as often as the mood strikes.............

.....................it's time to announce the WOODEN SPOON winners!

Naturally, family and friends first: Ana & Nickki! Congratulations. You two are devilish angels....not only contributing comments, but contributing to my actual lifestyle experiences and giving me plenty to write about!

Next it's time for those I consider 'the regulars'....some of whom are new as of this year. My warmest thanks and a nice hefty Spooner to:

(in no particular order, so please don't read into who's first and who's last. I got the names from the Blogger comment record, so they are kind of random as they appeared.)

Prefectdt, Mrs. Fever, Courandair, Fondles, Glenmore, Erica Scott, Hermione, Sissy Snow, Merry, QBuzz, Mr.BillSails, Crimson Kid, Alan, Joe, Jack, CK, Shilo, willie, Marie Rebelle, ZM, bobmski, Max, and Tomy.

(A round of applause please.)

The  next tier of awards go to participants who have either kind of moved on, or left only a few, or just a single comment. They may not be regulars, but still all qualify for a Spooner regardless!

Dan, Julie, morningstar, BIKKS, Lurker48, Brett, Jhakov Daly, Redtail, TigerWolf, Wallace, Tursiops truncatus, gentbb, Sexual Charms, The CuratorXXX, Rich Person, Midwest Reader, Observer, & Justaguy. ( If you commented between the last awards and these and your name does not appear, I am sorry. I tried to list everyone, but it's possible if you posted anonymously that I may have missed you. If I have let me know and I'll amend the list!)

(A round of applause please.)

And now a few new features. This next one is not so much an award as an official shout-out to those above who seem to have gone missing. I DO know why some folks are no longer here but not all. If you are on the milk carton below and can get to a safe place to respond, please check in. We miss you! (And if there's a REASON you no longer visit that might be........unpleasant........... to air here, please use the contact feature to email me.)

Has anyone seen.......

Fondles, Merry, Joe, Jhakov, CK, ZM, or Shilo? I'm hoping your current absence is temporary.

Next up, in memory of Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy, we have established the Tit For Tat Grant which will study the reasons why seemingly nice fellow bloggers will encourage participation on their own blogs but not comment on the blogs of the very people who comment on theirs. Hopefully this grant will result in some answers to this perplexing question that we can then publish here at a later date.

And lastly............ to those long time lurkers I mentioned earlier and promised to get to eventually? I didn't forget you. This award is for you, for being able to come here over the course of an entire year and yet offer nothing of substance:

Nonparticipation is no way to "Love (Y)our Lifestyle".

  1. Hi KD,

The last award made me smile, although it might encourage lurkers to not comment, in the hope of getting the award to proudly display on their mantle or desk.

I'm pleased that you like the change to LoL day, but keep those Spooners coming.

    Hugs,
    Hermione

    1. Hi there! Congratulations on your Spooner! (You must have a shelf of them by now.)

As for your concern over the award and lurkers? Well, I have found that there's a huge difference between a participant who needed LOL Day to discover a blog, and a lurker-by-nature who isn't going to comment no matter what anyway. I have found the upside to LOL Day in any format to be the former. Even I have found two blogs I like that I did not really hit before.

  2. Thanks for another spoon KD , and congrats on keeping your blog going.
I always stop by as there is always something interesting or unique here.
I appreciate that you take the time to respond to every comment, no matter how dumb.
There is nothing worse than taking the time to make a comment and having it ignored , or even worse , deleted.

As for the Lurkers , their turd is well deserved in my view as I have no time for freeloaders like them.

    1. Thank YOU, Glen. And thank you for noticing the effort I make to respond to EVERYTHING. (Hell, I've even sparred with Spam-Bots just for the sheer humor in it. LOL)

I agree about not getting a response, or eve acknowledgement, to a comment left. In fact I will be dealing with that specifically in an upcoming post.

    2. I'm eager to read it. I definitely feel heaps better about leaving comments on a blog when I know I'll get a response. Sometimes i don't come back to it too soon to see the response, but i always (ok 99% of the time) do check back at some point. And I make it a habit to respond to EVERY comment on my blog too. It kinda annoys me a bit when I check back on a blog i've commented at and don't see a response. Makes me think twice about leaving a comment the next time.

    3. I don't think you are alone in that regard, though I have had some folks say it doesn't bother them. I do think those it DOES bother, DOES also result in a reluctance to bother to comment in the future. The focus of the post will be primarily divided between acknowledgement and reciprocity, though a few other tidbits will be hashed out as well.

  3. Kdpierre - Last award made me smile, I do read your blog (not always) and like what I read. I don't comment and not sure why I don't.

    1. I am happy to see you here, Ronnie. With this one comment you have already earned yourself a Spooner for next year!

As for your last line? Well, to be perfectly honest? I've often sadly wondered that myself. I know my stuff here can range from personal, to comic, to even the irksome, but there are so many different kinds of innocuous posts too....like my holiday table settings or current projects. There's nothing controversial about those.

Going forward, please consider participating every now and then.....even if it's just once in a while. You would be most welcome. AND if the topic is something controversial......you don't have to agree with me to be recognized as an appreciated and worthy contributor.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Haha! I'm here I'm here! Thank you for the spooner. I own up to being missing. Things have been mad and hectic and i come by as much as i can, tho not as much as I would like.

One day, this too shall pass, and perhaps i will miss the busy times, or the person who is at the centre of these busy times, more like, but the day will come when I will find myself with all the time in the world. Until then, I will do what I must do. And perhaps I shall stay on that milk carton a year longer (or more, God willing... ) not that I WANT to be missing from here... but you know what I mean.

Lots of love from me and BIKSS! Happy LoL Day!

    1. YOU MADE IT, STRANGER! I can throw away that milk carton with your name on it now. I kind of know your reasons and understand. Posting you there was more my way of saying I miss your participation more than truly not knowing the "why" behind your absence.....or infrequence.

Anyway, even though you have slowed your interactions due to what you have going on....hell.....you STILL do comment when you can! That's very gratifying to me. So congratulations on your well-earned Spooner, and if you noticed...BIKSS got one too!

      Love right back!

Thank for for acknowledging the efforts here. I often wondered if you ever came by, but I guess you have. I know not every post is something that everyone will embrace or agree with, but if they get people thinking, then I've accomplished my goal. Please consider leaving your input in the future. As I've told others, and regulars here know quite well.....you DON'T have to agree with me to be a welcome participant.

      Happy LOL Day.

  11. Okay, I started a comment and then lost it, so if part of it appears later, sorry! Anyway, I am laughing over here especially at the Tit for Tat .... how did you just come straight out and say something I have thought for years, but was sure the softer side of blog land could not handle anyone addressing that out in public. Laughing! You did it and gave an award for it! Laughing again.

Adding you to my blog roll.

Happy LOL Day. Hilarious post! Hugs, Windy

Please take a look around and see if anything resonates. I will be happy to hear from you and since I am quite a fan of Tit for tat ( sometimes leaning more towards tit) I will link your place as well.

      Happy LOL Day!

  12. Hi KDPierre: Happy Lol, and hope you increase your readership. I fit perfectly in the golden turd award, and know it. I may comment over time, but am miffed by Google having to use anonymous, because I never receive feedback without having to keep tabs open and refreshing.

Too bad about how the "anonymous thing" seems to glitch up for people. You are not the first person to complain about this.

And, hey.......next year you have already qualified yourself for a Spooner with this comment alone! (I just hope it's not the only one you make. You are always welcome here.)

  13. Hi KD,
I am still here and alive and kicking! I just didn't have much to say recently! Don't worry. I will jump in when I get a chance. Often, I see a topic and feel like posting, but by then there is already a newer post so it seems kind of pointless. An example of this was the predicament bondage with diapers. I saw the topic and it seemed too edgy to let go without commenting, but then I realized there were like 2 newer posts, so I didn't bother. I will try to be a bit more timely!

    1. Hi ZM. I appreciate that you stopped by and explained things. I have always enjoyed the precision and honesty that go into your comments. I do recall from Dan's place that you always tended to chime in at the end of the week and those were once-a-week topics. My frequency probably poses more of a challenge as you say.

But enjoy your award! Even infrequent comments are better than none and I only put out my cyber-APB because you seemed more notably absent recently.

  14. Hi KDPierre - I stopped by today for the Awards show in particular! Well done!

I believe I may have commented way back when, but know I haven't anytime recently (in part due to the glitchy experiences I have with blogger comments) and therefore end up with that last award unfortunately.

Honestly, another other part is, if I do happen to visit here and the topic isn't to my particular lifestyle preference, I feel as if I have nothing to add and thus no comment.

That being said I can appreciate the obvious effort you put into your posts.

    Best,
    Enzo

I fully understand about certain topics not resonating......but......(and this is a nice big, plump, cushy "but(t)"......we cover EVERYTHING here. Surely something somewhere at some time has to tickle you? By all means jump in whenever that happens.

And thank you for your kind words.

  16. Oh, thanks for including me. I always felt LOL day was more of a cocktail party for bloggers who were already established if I am to be honest- which then ended up as more of a popularity type contest. Years ago I actually did have a few lurkers comment and stay out- at least on my blog. But only a few over the course of several years participating.

I used to love the discussions that occured in the comment section. Often I would tell people those were far better and more revealing than the post itself. Sadly it doesn't seem to occur as often and in some cases not wanted ( not here of course which is why I will pop in once and a while to see what is going on). So I've just stopped writing and commenting.

As for Tit for Tat. If other bloggers don't comment on my blog after countless comments from me, I just figure they don't want me there. And apparently there is a lot of truth to that. I discovered a few years ago a blogger spread hurtful untruths surrounding me. So no wonder bloggers never ventured to my blog. Lol. I probably wouldn't have either!

Happy to see you still find fulfillment in blogging and many still share with you. I miss that aspect in the corner of blogland I used to frequent.

    1. You are quite welcome, willie, and also ....quite welcome.

I think your characterization of LOL-Day is perhaps a bit cynical, but not entirely inaccurate. I would word it a bit differently though. I think it did result in more of an exchange between bloggers than an enticement for lurkers to comment, but I don't think it necessarily degenerated into a popularity contest. A cocktail party? Maybe. But I LOVE cocktails.................... as any reader here knows. LOL

I can't speak for others, but as long as your comments pertain to the topic, and you include a name, your posts are welcome here. And I will respond to every one, unless I somehow miss it. And as you can see, comments left over the weekend often take me some time to get to. I'm much more prompt during the week.

I can honestly say although you haven't commented a lot, the ones you did leave always seemed thoughtful, candid, and real. So, as far as I'm concerned, you are certainly welcome to continue.

  19. Happy belated LOL day kd. It helped me rediscover your blog! Confess to often lurking so maybe deserve the turd but... some of us lurk because we love the content but don't feel that we have anything to add.
    Anyway, love the tat'd tit!

    Replies
    1. Hi Mark. Thanks for the comment and thanks for joining in. See? It isn't that hard. LOL

I have heard that explanation about not having anything to add before, but I have a hard time with it for several reasons:
-if life has taught me anything it's that EVERYBODY has an opinion and want to be heard. Comments provide that opportunity
-many times I have read .....or even myself written....a comment stating that the previous commenters have pretty much covered it all. Such a comment may not seem like it's adding anything to the discussion, but it is: consensus. And another participant.....even if they are echoing a previous opinion, is still another voice in the choir.
-lastly, while I am not out to collect compliments, if someone "loves the content" as you say, how hard is it to just say, "good post".? At least that something to let me know people are out there.

      Going forward, don't be shy.

    1. I feel that way too, since my online participation (both on this blog and in general) has been very limited this past year, for various personal reasons.

Given the varied subjects mentioned here, it does make me wonder why a '100% lurker' couldn't at least post something on occasion.

Some people may feel uncomfortable with using the written word, but still--a couple of sentences, perhaps...?? --C.K.
